In Belgium, it is not an option, but a legal obligation: every publicly accessible AED must be registered with the FOD Volksgezondheid (Federal Public Service). This registration ensures that emergency services know where to look in an emergency and that devices are correctly maintained.
Dreading the paperwork? No worries: AEDwijzer is authorised to carry out this registration on your behalf. We take care of everything, so you can focus on your business or association.
A correctly registered AED saves lives faster. When your device is registered:
Visibility for 112: The emergency center immediately sees that an AED is available at your location.
National database: You contribute to a comprehensive network of emergency assistance throughout Belgium.
Traceability: You are immediately informed of important updates or recalls.
Legal compliance: You avoid fines or insurance problems during inspections.

Although the owner is responsible, an authorized supplier like AEDwijzer may perform the registration on behalf of the customer. We have the experience and the right channels to ensure this process runs flawlessly and quickly.
When purchasing an AED for the Belgian market, we take the work off your hands:
Forms: We pre-fill all technical details of the device and location for you.
Coordinates: We determine the exact location coordinates (Lambert 72), a technical detail that is often difficult for users.
Submission: We ensure the dossier is ready for dispatch and submit it to the FOD Volksgezondheid.
Confirmation: As soon as the official registration number is received, we will provide it to you for your administration.
Of course, you can. You can download the official form via the FOD Volksgezondheid website and send it to AED-DEA@health.fgov.be. Make sure all technical details and the expiry dates of the AED battery and electrodes are correctly stated.
Make sure you not only have a life-saving device, but that it is also registered according to the rules.
Order your AED in Belgium: View our range of professional AED devices and indicate when ordering that you wish to use our registration service.
Maintenance according to standard: In Belgium, the condition of your AED must be regularly checked. Our maintenance contracts perfectly meet the Belgian requirements.
Find the right device: Do you need a multilingual AED for your public location in Brussels or the border region? Use our AED Selection Guide for tailor-made advice.
Do you already have an AED but it is not yet registered with the FOD? I would be happy to help you get this in order quickly and correctly!
