An AED device saves lives by delivering a shock, but did you know that the quality of your chest compressions is just as important? Some advanced AEDs provide direct CPR feedback via the electrodes. This feature coaches you through resuscitation and can make the crucial difference between survival and permanent damage.

What exactly is CPR feedback?

During a deployment, you're full of adrenaline. Are you pressing deep enough? Is the rhythm right? An AED with feedback measures this via special sensors in the electrodes. The device analyzes how deep and how fast you compress the chest and gives you direct verbal instructions such as:

  • "Press harder"

  • "Good compressions"

  • "Press faster"

It's as if a professional instructor is standing next to you, calmly telling you how to give the victim the best chance of survival.

Why is this feedback so important?

Even for trained professionals, it is difficult to maintain perfect compressions under high pressure. Research shows that we often unconsciously press too superficially as time passes.

  • Optimal blood circulation: Good chest compressions maintain blood flow to the brain.

  • Self-confidence: For a layperson, the feedback is a huge support. It removes the fear of doing it "wrong," allowing you to act more effectively in the 6-minute window.

Who is an AED with feedback suitable for?

These models are ideal for locations where first aid is often provided by bystanders or less experienced rescuers:

  • Companies and emergency response teams: For extra safety at work.

  • Sports clubs: Where physical exertion and emotions are high.

  • Public spaces: Where anyone should be able to operate the device.

  • Schools and childcare centers: For maximum safety for the most vulnerable groups.

How does it work in practice?

You attach the electrodes to the chest as usual. In models such as the Zoll AED 3 or the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5, the sensors are integrated into the pads. As soon as you start the compressions, the coaching begins. Some devices even have a display where you can visually track the depth of your compressions.

Choose the highest standard in safety

Do you want to ensure that resuscitation at your location is always performed at the highest level?

  • Find the ideal match: Use our AED Choice Guide to see which AED with feedback function best suits your budget and environment.

  • Practice with feedback: Do you want to experience what it's like to receive coaching? Order an AED trainer with feedback function and practice on a CPR manikin.

  • Always up-to-date: Ensure your sensors always work with our maintenance contracts. We replace the pads and the AED battery on time.
